-Fred and Colleen Schacht

The suite was absolutely perfect. Stylish and extremely clean and comfortable. Fred was extremely responsive and timely in coordinating our stay. There was a kind note and local beer in the fridge upon arrival. A wonderful location and would highly recommend using the Hamlet Hotel when staying in Bellingham.
— Tiffany - Suite 203, 2018
These folks should be rated super-super hosts. Perfect location to enjoy the best of Bellingham on foot, Incredibly responsive replies to questions and so many thoughtful touches. Great local tips on food, sights, mountain snow access. Great provisions in the apartment suite. Everything clean and lovely—and all possible kitchen items we needed. Hands down, this is a fantastic spot to stay. We will definitely be back. Note: We travel with our 2 girls—ages 7 and 13—and are aware some hosts are skeptical/unwarm to children traveling. Fred and Colleen couldn’t have been warmer to all aspects of our traveling family and we were incredibly appreciative. All four of us loved their place.
— Aimee - Suite 204, 2018
Wonderful place! Better than the description on Airbnb. Very clean, lots of natural light, cozy, and thoughtful. All the amenities you need and then some more. Very well stocked kitchen, comfortable couch, nice wooden floors, very comfortable bed, proper closet and a clean bathroom. Located in the city center but also very quiet and private. We were able to find free parking right in front of the place. Highly recommend!
— Asif - Suite 201, 2018
This place is the bomb. It’s brand new. Lots of comfort throughout, from bed to luxurious living room rug to kitchen amenities. We were impressed by the thoughtful touches like a treat in the fridge, toiletries, records to enjoy. And everything surrounding check in and entry and such were super easy. Highly recommended!
— Eli - Suite 202, 2018
We had a wonderful stay in Suite 201! The communication and check in process was a breeze thanks to the simple door codes you receive and thorough packet of information. The local map and beer Fred left for us was a wonderful touch, as we’re visiting on a house hunting trip for an upcoming move to the area. The apartment was perfect for lounging with a cup of coffee in the morning, to hanging out and playing chess in the evening before curling up in the very comfortable bed. We stayed over a Saturday and Sunday night-Saturday brought a little bit of noise from nearby bars, but the white noise machine anbd ear plugs left worked great! I would recommend it without hesitation
— Kristin - Suite 201, 2018
Comfortable, Clean and Cozy - all the amenities of home.
— Pamela - Suite 201, 2018
It’s the little things that add up to a great stay. My husband and I took the train up to Bellingham, so were a little worried that we would have to lug our luggage with us for hours on both the arrival and departure, but Fred made sure that wasn’t an issue...The bathroom was stocked with extra toiletries (not needed this time but always nice not to have to take time out of a vacation to purchase a toothbrush). Very convenient location with great suggestions of where to visit.
— Kristin - Suite 201, 2018
Bellingham has a vibrant urban core, and the Hamlet Hotel offers the perfect place to explore all of it. Everything about the Hamlet is quality; the keypad locks on the public door and the suite; the furnishings in all the rooms; the quality of the newly built rooms—the flooring, windows and doors; the spacious vanity sink and rain shower bath fixture; the first-rate appliances in the galley kitchen; the bath and bed linens; the super comfortable mattress—all of it is absolutely top-shelf stuff. Fred left a few items in the kitchen to avoid an immediate trip out after arriving and even provided a white noise machine should the Bellingham hum be too much for you.
I hope to return for another stay.
— Gary - Suite 204, 2018
We had the best time at the Hamlet Hotel! The space itself is beautiful, from the refurbished original wood flooring to the exposed brick walls and decor, this place felt like a classy/hip place. The location is wonderful, just walk out the door and you’re in the heart of downtown Bellingham, and right around the corner from great running trails and a walkway to Fairhaven. It got a bit noisy on Saturday night (it’s a college town with people out bar hopping), but the place comes with an ambient noise machine in the bedroom and ear plugs. Fred put a personal touch on the stay, we loved the record player and Nespresso. We can’t wait to visit again!
— Allison - Suite 202, 2018
This is a beautiful hotel right in the middle of downtown Bellingham. The restoration of the building was obviously done with care, and the apartment has everything one could want in terms of amenities. It’s absolutely lovely. I was in town for five days and it was a relief to be able to walk easily to a grocery store, many restaurants, the museum, the farmers market; whenever we’ve visited before I’ve felt like I’m always driving somewhere, which is exhausting. As noted in the listing, all units are located on an upper floor with no elevator (24 steps) and there is some city noise. You’ll hear trains going by every few hours—I grew up hearing the same trains and find this soothing. Also, there is a nightclub next door and on Friday and Saturday nights (10pm-2am) the bass from the music is quite noticeable, at least in this unit. If you know you ‘ll feel like a Grinch listening to other people have fun into the wee hours, you’d probably prefer to stay on weeknights when Bellingham diligently lives up to it’s slogan: the city of subdued excitement.
— Dorie - Suite 204, 2018
Host was super easy to message and get a response from. He made sure to have it covered on items people forget (band aids and toothpaste, for example). Left a couple of local beers in the fridge to try, plus nice frozen glasses. So many cool touches to a great space. Close to everything in the downtown area.
— Berlin - Suite 204, 2018
Hands down one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Will recommend this place to anyone visiting Bellingham. Host was extremely thoughtful and it is apparent they want a memorable stay for the guest! We were greeted with some local beer and a note! Beautiful place thank you for everything!
— Richard - Suite 201, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel is one of the most amazing hotels we’ve had the opportunity to stay. The sophistication and elegance of the amenities combined with being in a central location to restaurants and shopping make this an ideal spot. It is in a central business district near bars which can be noisy at inconvenient hours, but the hosts thoughtfully provided ear plugs! This is an elegant oasis in the center of town-an ideal spot for those visiting Bellingham. We stayed in Suite 203 which has the advantage of views of almost all of downtown. We definitely recommend this boutique hotel!
— Elisa - Suite 203, 2018
The only thing more amazing then Fred’s place is Fred himself! From the initial inquiry to the arrival and departure, Fred was prompt, communicative, and detailed. His response times were always less than 24 hours and addressed all questions clearly and honestly. He even left handwritten notes and a professionally bound Guest Guide inside the suite to welcome us, The place itself is centrally located within a short walking distance to great restaurants, bars shopping, attractions, and a live music venue. The furnishings were stylish, unique and modern, with high quality toiletries and kitchen amenities included, Additionally, Suite 202 is equipped with a turntable and excellent vinyl selection. Great suite for music lovers! The second floor window overlooks a public square, so our only caution would be to keep the blinds lowered for privacy, Street noise was noticeable but not disruptive, and the surrounding suites were very quiet. The main entrance plus suite door codes were secure and easy to use. Excellent service, accommodations and experience!
— Emily - Suite 202, 2018
I highly recommend the Hamlet Hotel! The owners are extremely thoughtful and attentive. The room I stayed in was very well appointed, and there were lots of little extras selected to help a guest feel at home. It’s centrally located to downtown Bellingham so walking is a great option for getting around. I will definitely stay there again!
— Denise - Suite 204, 2018
Location! Location! Location! We chose this spot mainly for its downtown address. We rented a car, but in downtown Bellingham, metered parking is free after 5:00pm on weekdays and all weekend, so you can easily park the car in the same spot and walk everywhere. The only downside to the location is that there’s a night club (I assume), in the building that keeps the party going pretty late on weekends. Luckily, our host left us some ear plugs for my partner’s sensitive ears. (I slept through the noise just fine, but i thought it might be worth mentioning.) It’s a youthful, vibrant town; everyone is out walking around, bouncing from bar to bar (there are 23 breweries and tap rooms in this small town), so you just have to embrace it! The apartment itself is a dream. Everything was top quality - soft sheets, towels, blankets pillows. The kitchen and bathroom had everything you could need, and I’m sure if something was missing, you could ask, and Fred would provide. He was incredibly generous. I would absolutely stay there again if I ever get back up to Bellingham.
— Rex - Suite 204, 2018
Our stay in Bellingham was incredible! My girlfriend and I loved the modern decor yet rustic vibes. Everything was sparkling clean and top-notch, with all sorts of extra goodies to make our stay feel really special. Great location in the heart of Bellingham, Fred left us plenty of tips on where to eat, what to do, etc. We will absolutely be staying here again.
— Doug - Suite 201, 2018
My wife and I decided to make last minute plans for a weekend trip to Bellingham and came across the Hamlet Hotel, It was our first time to Bellingham so we wanted to be in a walkable location. Did we ever find that?! The first farmers market of the season was on the adjacent block. We walked to a couple different breweries and went to the electrical museum (Spark). We didn’t partake in any nightlife, but as mentioned in other reviews you can hear the dull ambient bass from the club a block away and some people talking outside the building at night. However, earplugs and a white noise machine are provided. We found that the fan noise on the machine worked great (no ear plugs) and i would even say we’re pretty picky sleepers. Fred was very responsive and helpful, He has created a well thought out experience, including a couple local beers in the fridge and a plenty of local info. He really managed to bring out the soul of the building while including all new finishes and amenities. We’re excited to stay here again and highly recommend.
— Matthew - Suite 201, 2018
Great downtown location in the middle of Bellingham’s nightlife. Very clean and modern suites. I look forward to visiting again soon.
— Terry - Suite 201, 2018
This is a great place if your goal is to be downtown. We parked for the weekend and did not need to use our car again, We loved walking the trail down to Fairhaven and back. The unit is very nicely decorated. Bed is super comfortable with sheets that are so soft! Noise as others comment on is definitely present primarily when the bars closed there are ear plugs available in the room. We will definitely return here the next time we return to Bellingham.
— Christi - Suite 202, 2018
Cozy, welcoming, full of character, and spotlessly clean! The Hamlet is a true delight and Fred is the consummate host: communicative, charming and clearly interested in making the stay as positive as possible. The location couldn’t be better and despite the downtown location I didn’t have any trouble with parking. I loved being able to walk to the farmer’s market on Saturday morning, and all my favorite coffee shops, restaurants and nightspots. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and have already booked again for my next visit.
— Susan - Suite 204, 2018
Hamlet Hotel—not your usual “hotel!” So much better! Fred’s place is perfectly located in the heart of downtown Bellingham, within walking distance to everything. The space is warm and inviting and perfectly appointed. Loved the chalkboard in the entry where guests could write their favorite places and fun things to do. I will definitely be making another reservation in the near future! Thanks so much, Fred!
— Laura - Suite 202, 2018
Lovely place with nice surprises every corner we see. Lots of thoughts and nice touches Fred has done to make sure we feel at home. It’s like arriving home when we walked in, I can’t say enough good things and nice experience we have staying in Fred’s lovely suite apartment. Will certainly come back again!
— Dan and Kelly - Suite 202, 2018
We loved staying at the Hamlet Hotel! It was a gorgeous, clean room. Being able to walk to everything was important to us and this place was perfect. Close to coffee, dinner, drinks. Literally right next to a farmers market. Fred was wonderful. He even stocked the fridge with a couple local beers and a sweet note. I highly recommend this place. The only downside is that it’s above a club but the bedroom has the best white noise machine so we didn’t even notice. Loved everything about this place!!! Thank you!!
— Veronika - Suite 204, 2018
Amazing location right in the middle of downtown. Can walk to almost anything. Modern stylish suite. Lots of personal touches to the stay that make it feel more personal than a hotel, Quick communicator. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you want to explore Bellingham’s downtown.
— Christian - Suite 204, 2018
The Hamlet was a great central location in downtown Bellingham. Fred made sure we had everything we needed from directions around town to all the amenities in the room. Everything was clean and beautifully decorated. One of the best airbnbs I’ve ever stayed at and would definitely stay again. Thanks Fred!
— Kat - Suite 201, 2018
Great location and friendly host!
— Haley - Suite 202, 2018
We booked two suites for a group of 8 to stay for a short weekend trip. Fred was very accommodating and easy to work with. The suites were very clean and located in a perfect spot in downtown Bellingham; as long as you don’t mind a little outside noise from the neighboring bars late at night. We would definitely go back again!
— Nathan - Suite 202 and Suite 203, 2018
The place is located upstairs in an older building but they’ve remodeled everything, while leaving the classic, original look. The exposed brick and floors are really cool but the room has new furniture and everything in the kitchen and bath are brand new. Great spot to stay.
— Keegan - Suite 201, 2018
Great spot right in the middle of a lively downtown district. Super-clean, very newly appointed, lots of thoughtful touches, extremely responsive host. Queen-size bed is great for adults, sofa sleeper is appropriate for children. White noise machine comes in handy for those who are skipping the night life outside, Parking is abundant but not part of the package, so a little bit of logistics may be required is your stay is mid-week (street parking right out front is 3 hour-max during weekdays business hours, but there are several nearby city and private garages that offer lengthier parking options.
— Steven - Suite 203, 2018
Great place, great service.
— Ben - Suite 201, 2018
Great location! Loved the charm of the unit and all the attention to detail! Very clean!! Fred and Colleen were so easy to work with and had helpful suggestions.
— Jess - Suite 202, 2018
Fantastic personal touches in a great location. Loved being able to explore downtown Bellingham from our front Door.
— Michael and Julia - Suite 204, 2018
My second visit to the Hamlet was just as endearing as the first. Scrupulously clean, so many thoughtful touches, and I love love love the convenient location. Walk to everything! Fred is an outstanding host.
— Susan - Suite 201, 2018
Hamlet Hotel in Bellingham is a great place to stay! Close to restaurants, WWU and many attractions, it’s perfect for parents visiting their students. The owners were very accommodating and immediately responsive. I will be staying there again!
— Jennifer - Suite 204, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel is the place to stay in Bellingham! Great location, wonderful amenities, and a host, Fred, who is most helpful and welcoming, Had a great time and I will definitely stay at the Hamlet next time I am in town.
— Heather - Suite 201, 2018
Do not hesitate to stay at the Hamlet Hotel while in
Bellingham. It was clean, convenient to great food and recreation, and very comfortable! So many great tips and Fred is very responsive. We will stay here again for sure!
— Bridget - Suite 202, 2018
Extremely clean, fantastic location!
— Mark - Suite 204, 2018
When in Bellingham this is the place I will stay every time. The hosts are very thoughtful. They communicate well from the beginning to the end of the process. The space is amazing and very well appointed and I don’t think that there is a better value in town. I can’t wait to come back.
— Bill - Suite 202, 2018
The Hamlet House is my favorite place to stay when in Bellingham. And, Fred is the ultimate host! The location is perfect for getting around town, the suites are spacious and comfortable, and Fred is always helpful with suggestions for what to do and see. This is one location I will definitely stay in again!
— Heather - Suite 201, 2018
I can’t say enough good things about Fred’s place. We wanted an urban getaway and this apartment was perfect. Clean and hip and a great location.
— Tom - Suite 203, 2018
Absolutely perfect place to stay in the heart of Bellingham. The Hamlet Hotel is beautifully designed, very cozy and squeaky clean. Fred is the perfect host offering special touches , tips and suggestions for your visit. Be warned that this place is not quiet as it is adjacent to one of the local clubs. The noise did not bother us...ear plugs are graciously provided by the host. This will be the ONLY place we stay from now on when we return to Bellingham.
— Jenny - Suite 204, 2018
Great place! Central location. Well cared for with lots of extras!
— Kristi - Suite 201, 2018
My third visit and the Hamlet feels like home! Fred is such a thoughtful, responsive host. I always feel welcome and well-cared for during my stays. He definitely goes the extra mile and beyond...he met me the first morning of my stay, before my room had been vacated by the prior guests, to refrigerate my farmer’s market purchases so I could spend the day out and about without worrying about spoilage, And the awesomeness of the location continues...I get to try new shops and eateries (on foot!) every time, with no end of novel opportunities in sight. I’m looking forward to my next visit!
— Susan - Suite 203, 2018
My two brothers stayed at the Bellingham Hamlet as I live a block away in a small studio apartment. It was a perfect place to stay, a nice space and accessible to downtown. Both of my brothers gave it high marks. I will use it again as my “spare room” in the future.
— Marc - Suite 201, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel is a lovely place to stay in the heart of downtown. Fred & Colleen go out of their way to make sure guests are comfortable. Be warned that guests should read through the provided info in the emails carefully AND glance at the guestbook provided in the suite - I could have avoided confusion on my end had I looked at all the resources provided. It’s a lovely place to stay and the building’s history adds to the charm.
— Ashton - Suite 204, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel was wonderful! It was central to everything downtown Bellingham has to offer, and feels like your own, brand new apartment. Fred and Colleen have thought of everything and it shows in all the personal touches, notes and amenities. We loved it and plan to be back often!
— Wade - Suite 204, 2018
Fred’s place was spotless and the decor was very modern and stylish, while somehow still holding on to the original character of the historic building. Exposed brick walls are gorgeous, very comfy bed, and the unit is very thoughtfully appointed with everything you could think of (and then some). Toiletries provided were of good quality, there was even a razor and shaving cream, which came in handy since my hubby forgot his! There is even a really good hair dryer, unlike most places. t=The local craft beer in the fridge was an especially appreciated treat!! While it didn’t bother us, I will warn others that it is right in the middle of the nightlife area, so there is a fair bit of noise outside in the evenings. Not ideal for light sleepers or those who like to go to bed early. But they provide a white noise machine and even ear plugs for that (they really have thought of everything!), and the location can’t be beat for those who want to partake in the nightlife! I personally found the pillows to be quite uncomfortable, but pillows are such a personal preference for people, you certainly can’t please everyone. If you like a thicker pillow, as I do, I would recommend you bring your own, if possible. But that is really the only thing I can think of that I wasn’t completely happy with! Fred was an amazingly helpful, responsive and thoughtful host! We would definitely stay here again!
— Alison - Suite 201, 2018
This place was quite simply the best airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Apart from being a very nice and well located apartment, the amenities on site were far beyond what any airbnb I’ve ever been to offered. Would highly recommend.
— Jared - Suite 202, 2018
Loved this little hotel suite. Very comfortable, cute and clean, with nice touches like a couple of local beers in the fridge. There’s no AC-probably don’t usually need it in Bellingham-but the windows are high above the street so we felt safe keeping them open and using the fans and were perfectly comfortable. It is right downtown, so there is plenty of noise at night, but we expected that. We slept fine with the earplugs and the windows open. Probably not a good place for light sleepers, though. There are great coffee houses, restaurants, breweries, markets and ice cream within walking distance. We found free parking a couple blocks away and just left the car and enjoyed downtown on foot.
— Jenni - Suite 201, 2018
Wonderful place. The “welcome” refreshments were a really nice touch and the ambiance is outstanding! Location is great for visiting WWU parents as it can be walking distance for their students, though it can be noisy as it’s near some good hotspots, especially on the 4th of July! But we do plan on a return visit!
— Jillice - Suite 202, 2018
Had a wonderful stay at Fred’s place in downtown Bellingham. Everything was as described if not better. Centrally located, all the amenities, and great care in the thoughtful touches that make an AirBnb stay extra special. We stayed over the weekend and the street outside was indeed loud (as advertised), but Fred went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to get a good night’s sleep. Couldn’t beat the location. Bed was super comfy and the couch wasn’t too bad, either. Nespresso coffee in the morning. Lots of good food around. Great tips on what to do and where to eat. Thanks Fred!
— Jess - Suite 202, 2018
Very nice and modern with an old town touch. Very clean and a great location if you are looking to spend time downtown. Wish we could have stayed longer!
— Floyd - Suite 203, 2018
Clean, comfortable, near the night life.
— Robert - Suite 204, 2018
Description very accurate. Extremely clean. Perfect location for downtown. Timely communications. Fred was very hospitable and helpful. Enjoyed our stay very much.
— Nader - Suite 204, 2018
What a gem of a place this is! If there is availability don’t wait and book, book, book immediately. The location is excellent - you are in the heart of all things downtown. And if you are serious about food make sure to stay downtown and walk from one restaurant to the other. The apartment was sparkling clean, modern but comfortable, thoughtfully set up and decorated, spacious and charming. The bed is super comfortable, the sheets are crisp and inviting, the bathroom stocked up with plenty of plush towels (a pet peeve of mine is not having enough big towels) and great products, and my favorite - two local brews as a welcome gift waiting for us in the fridge! Fred, the host was beyond accommodating and thoughtful - when I told him we love oysters he slipped a little note with information about an oyster farm 20 min down the road. the check in and out process is easy and the communication and information shared with us prior and during our stay was seamless. We loved every minute of our stay. Thank you and looking forward to coming back to Hamlet Hotel soon.
— Lili - Suite 201, 2018
Would recommend this place to anyone, not only great host with attention to details, but this was my first stay in Bellingham and its a neat little town! Ill definitely be back!
— Tom - Suite 204, 2018
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hamlet! Fred was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to our questions. Great location and more spacious than we were expecting. The Hamlet had a Comfy bed, nice bathroom and plenty of space in the kitchen area. The attention to detail was exceptional! They had a personal note for us, and some local brews from Bellingham were waiting for us to sample in the fridge....with chilled glasses in the freezer!!!!! Would stay again in a heart beat! Our daughter is graduating from Western Washington next semester, and we are going to stay here again for our daughter’s big day!
— Carolyn - Suite 203, 2018
Perfect location. Very clean and comfortable.
— Michael - Suite 204, 2018
I just can’t say enough great things about this place! Super great host, location, amenities, and personal touches. We will definitely stay here anytime we are in Bellingham.
— Craig - Suite 204, 2018
The apartment is located right in the heart of everything. Easy walking distance to everything. The space is really comfortable, in great condition and sparklingly clean! Fred was very responsive and accommodating with any requests. Being in the downtown area we expected downtown noise in the evening. We really did not hear trains much, although Fred mentions this in his description. Being summer we had the windows wide open at night - the most surprising thing was the number of people coming out of clubs at 2:00 am on a week night! Who knew Bellingham was SUCH a happening place? It did not bother us much - but for people considering the Hamlet you may want to be aware. It was not just the weekend but weekday nights too. This is a great AirBnb. Thanks Fred.
Fred and Colleen clearly have earned their Super Host reputation. They put a great deal of consideration into the design of the stylish and comfortable rooms. Everywhere you turn there are thoughtful touches for their guests - extra bathroom amenities for forgetful packers, a comprehensive illustrated guide to their favorite restaurants, hikes and activities, a white noise machine and earplugs by the bed and two cold local brews in the fridge (especially welcome after a long drive). Very attentive and gracious hosts!
— Laura - Suite 204, 2018
Hamlet Hotel is a perfect home base while you are in Bellingham. Outstanding hosts, sparkling clean and full of all the amenities you could ask for. Plus, a perfect location to explore the city.
— Jennifer - Suite 204, 2018
If it is cool enough to keep the windows closed, or raining so the people don’t hang out under your window til 2-3am talking & playing music, this would be an amazing find. But, on a hot summer night, this is not the place to stay. The inside of the house was really nice. And the host was also very communicative & friendly.
— Colette - Suite 201, 2018
The Hamlet could hardly be more comfortable and attractive. It’s artfully designed and expertly put together. It is just about perfect. The couple who run the place, however, are what makes it truly extraordinary. I thought I ‘d already encountered the most gracious, generous and accommodating hosts one could ever imagine. Then there’s Fred and his charming wife. Fred was incredibly flexible in customizing and revising the dates of my stay. And then my interaction with them in person was every bit as delightful as I imagined it might be following the prompt and cordial communications we had in the run up to my arrival. I can’t say enough about the super accommodations and these marvelous hosts!
— Keith - Suite 201, 2018
I cannot say enough about how much we loved our stay in Bellingham at Fred’s Hamlet Hotel. I had never been to Bellingham before and I was so happy to find out how perfect the location is - easy walking distance to everything we could have ever wanted to do downtown from the farmer’s market just up the street to coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and a little independent theater, the Pickford, The space was immaculate, and I loved all of the little personal touches including two local beers in the fridge to welcome us to Bellingham. I had seen on previous reviews that the street can be a little loud outside, and Fred has provided everything to accommodate for that including box fans, ear plugs and an amazing white noise machine. I want one for myself! I turned on the box fan and used the earplugs and didn’t hear one thing from outside, even with the windows open! Love love loved our stay, and hope to be back!!
— Sarah - Suite 201, 2018
Fred’s place was perfect. Just what I needed, a spotless kitchen and cozy comforts.
— Laura - Suite 203, 2018
This is an extremely clean place with everything you need. The location is great. Fred was responsive and we loved the extra touches. Can be loud but they have earplugs for you!!!
— Heather - Suite 204, 2018
These suites are fantastic. So comfortable, clean, well located. Id stay here again in a minute.
— Ann - Suite 201, 2018
This listing was above and beyond what I had expected! Fred was very thorough with check in instructions (which was incredibly easy) and giving us some local tips on what to do, where to go, what to eat/drink. It is very central to all the breweries, restaurants and coffee shops in downtown Bellingham. The space was very comfortable, sparkling clean, and very welcoming. Street parking downstairs is free on the weekends and we snagged a spot right in front of the entrance. Everything about this AirBnb exceeded my expectations. Would highly recommend!
— Paula - Suite 204, 2018
These suites are gorgeous! Beautifully furnished modern spaces in a great old building. We were so comfortable! Couldn’t ask for a better place. Location is great, lots of restaurants and cafes close by. Very good value too!
— Ann - Suite 202, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel Suites are ideally located in the center of town, beautifully renovated, and well-suited for either a short or an extended stay. Fred and Colleen are exceptionally responsive, attentive to detail, and treat each guest as though they were the first to ever stay there. Regarding the nearby nightclubs, the Hamlet makes every accommodation to mitigate the music, including white noise machines, extra fans, earplugs and black out shades. If you are truly a light sleeper, consider bring noise-canceling headphones. We recommend taking advantage of the Hamlet and Fred & Colleen’s hospitality.
— Chas - Suite 203, 2018
Our stay at the Hamlet was great! The location was perfect for downtown Bellingham, steps to dozens of trendy restaurants and shops. The unit was better than the pictures, a nice newly renovated apartment in a historic building. Check-in was a breeze, and there were a lot more thoughtful amenities than most rentals we’ve stayed at in the past. We’d highly recommend staying here!
— Geno - Suite 201, 2018
Great location and communication! Loved our stay and will recommend to friends traveling to Bellingham! Sofa bed was easy to fold out and big enough for 2 adults.
— Mike - Suite 202, 2018
We rented all four rooms for a family wedding in Bellingham. This was a fabulous place that had everything we could possibly need!!! Fred and Colleen were so kind and went above & beyond providing many extras. Our entire family waas very impressed!! It’s a beautiful place!!! thank you
— Grethchen - Suite 203, 2018
The space is amazing! Clean, well decorated and thoughtfully stocked.
— Jennifer - Suite 201, 2018
Fantastic location, great place overall!
— Byron - Suite 201, 2018
Wow. Really impressed the location and amenity of Fred and Colleen’s place. Comfortable interior and they even went the extra mile with providing charging ports, ear plugs/white noise machine and a friendly guide to help us with our stay!
— Matthew - Suite 201, 2018
I enjoyed the space a ton, it’s right downtown which is nice for walking around town. Some might find it noisy but I did not. Super easy check in, quick responses about anything.
— Colin - Suite 203, 2018
Great place, great location. Friendly hosts.
— Heath - Suite 203, 2018
Exceptional as always, just as I expected.
— Jillice - Suite 201, 2018
I really appreciated the quick response to text or email, and the guidance with phone calls, and the helpfulness, and tips about what to see.

Wow! This space was by far the cleanest space I have ever stayed! Fred ensured we had everything we needed-including a white noise machine for the active street below. It is a beautiful space with high quality linens, tasteful decor, and thoughtful touches (local beer in the refrigerator). I highly recommend!
— Moriah - Suite 201, 2018
We stayed in Room 204 for the weekend and couldn’t have been happier with our selection. The room was very clean and even included personal touches from Fred that made us feel welcome. The hotel is located in a convenient downtown location with many great bars and restaurants within a short walking distance. Our biggest concern going into the trip was parking, but it was very easy to find a spot right in front, even on the weekend. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
— Ben - Suite 204, 2018
Another fabulous stay at my favorite Bellingham lodging, with the best host in town!
— Susan - Suite 202, 2018
Could not recommend staying in one of Fred’s rooms more! Stylish, clean, spacious and plenty of fun touches. He has great recommendations and is incredibly responsive and employs excellent communication. The value far exceeds the price!
— Taylor - Suite 203, 2018
The care and attention to detail on how this space was set up was amazing. From the extra clean and comfortable rooms and dishes, the welcoming beer and water in the frig, the stylish set up, the extra fans to accommodate the unusual weather and maps/info provided. Our room was in the back so it was relatively quiet for being smack dab centrally located. It was great to walk out and be able to walk to all the restaurants, parks and sites of the area, as well as having the bus nearby. When we had a car parking was no problem.
— Sandra - Suite 204, 2018
We had a great experience staying at the Hamlet Hotel. Fred was a great host and very quick to answer any questions. The place was very clean and modern with an awesome brick wall from the original building. Walking distance to great restaurants and breweries. Great location.
— Jennifer - Suite 201, 2018
The place is beautiful! Centrally located near the farmers market and many restaurants and coffee shops, My only negative was it is loud at night if the windows are open. The host provided a white noise machine, fans so we could drown out the noise. Overall would highly recommend.
— Wendy - Suite 204, 2018
This is a great place to stay in downtown Bellingham. One of the best AirBnbs I have stayed in. Easy access, extremely nice furnishings and layout of the room and a great host. He provided lots of tips and free beer! Would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.
— Ben - Suite 203, 2018
Our room at the Hamlet Hotel was beautiful!! The building was conveniently located, beautifully renovated and decorated, and full of all sorts of thoughtful extras! Fred had cold beers waiting for us when we arrived (plus glasses in the freezer!), tea and many other surprises! There were even phone chargers for our phones! Everything we possibly needed he had thought of! It was clean, and so beautiful and pleasant! Highly recommend!
— Hope - Suite 202, 2018
Hamlet Hotel is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Bellingham! Lovely place with great amenities. Would definitely stay here again.
— Jamie - Suite 201, 2018
Excellent hosts and amazing accommodations. Superb location. Fred was so helpful and accommodating. We hope to make it back!
— Thomas - Suite 203, 2018
Beautiful and unique accommodations with so many special touches. Without a doubt one of the best places I have stayed.
— Scott - Suite 201, 2018
Unique space in downtown Bellingham, which as far as I know, doesn’t have any other kind of hotel. I previously stayed at the pretentious place out by the water, and I also stayed at the Travel Lodge by the highway - I like this place. Room 203 is basically a nice apartment, and all the little details were well done. As warned, it was a bit noisy at night, cause you’re in it, but def would recommend.
— Peter - Suite 203, 2018
This room will meet your expectations and more. A great place to stay.
— Scott - Suite 202, 2018
We were visiting Bellingham from Scotland to see my daughter Kim and her husband Andrew who run Cafe Velo - the place for cycling and cafe enthusiasts in town. The Hamlet Hotel apartment was recommended by Kim and quickly became a real home for us. So comfortable. Location: excellent, mid town and surrounded by cafes, bars, shops and historic interest. Easy to find and parking on meter no problem. Free parking from 5pm till 9am. Apartment: spotless, new, well equipped (including completely usable kitchen with cooker, pots and pans, fridge, freezer, kettle and coffee pod machine) and tastefully decorated. Good Wifi. The bed is new and in very good condition. It was a bit soft for me, but my partner didn’t find it a problem. Downsides: None for us, however the only point that some might find a problem was occassional noise , as pubs and clubs emptied (to be expected as this is the centre of town). Extras: There were several lovely touches, like a note for us in the fridge and some complimentary chocolates and others that future guests will discover. Conclusion: all in all a great find and we do intend hopefully to return. Thanks Fred and Colleen for letting us use the apartment; a great experience.
— Bill and Sal - Suite 202, 2018
We’ve stayed at the Hamlet multiple times and keep coming back! Really wonderful and responsive hosts, and a lovely space.
— Dorie - Suite 203, 2018
My family said it was “The best place they have ever stayed.” Tough to beat that. Fred was so helpful and responsive and the place is amazing! All the special touches really topped it all off.
— Scott - Suite 204, 2018
We had such a fantastic stay at the Hamlet Hotel. The space is beautiful, the location is fantastic, and the host ensures that you feel welcome and comfortable. There are thoughtful touches throughout, like umbrellas at the door and cold beer in the fridge upon arrival. We will definitely be back.
— Elizabeth - Suite 201, 2018
Fred was a great host, extremely responsive and quick to offer local tips. This was probably the best furnished airbnb (of many), in which I have stayed, with so many little details covered, from the appliances to the amenities - not least of which was cold (and local), beer. Can’t beat that. The apartment was spotless and well maintained, and there were more restaurants nearby thank I could try. I would happily stay there again.
— Kevin - Suite 202, 2018
— Bill - Suite 202, 2018
This place is great! Comfortably furnished one-bedroom apartment with fold out sofa. Fred thinks of every amenity and you really aren’t missing anything if you stay here. The location is also great, right on Railroad Avenue in downtown Bellingham. Five minute drive from Western Washington, restaurants, bars and shops steps out your door, and great suggestions from the host.
— Jason - Suite 201, 2018
An amazing place to stay. Beautiful unit, clean and great location!
— Tessa - 204, 2018
Fantastic location, top notch quality!
— Bill - Suite 202, 2018
Wonderful room in downtown Bellingham.
— Constantin - Suite 201, 2018
Our stay at the Hamlet Hotel was wonderful. The unit was very clean, well decorated and with every detail well thought out. The host was gracious on checking in on us to see if there was anything else we needed., and added a personal touch to acknowledge a celebration. I would highly recommend staying here and plan to do so if I am back in the area.
— Amy - Suite 201, 2018
We had a great stay here. They had everything we needed and more, including refreshments at check-in! it was nice to be right downtown, but it did come with quite a bit of noise until around 3:00am on a Saturday (bar-goers hanging out/talking right outside the window). Sunday night was much quieter. Luckily there are ear plugs and a white noise machine at the ready. Overall, everything was clean and comfortable, and they’ve done a great job restoring the building. Would definitely stay again.
— Allison - Suite 202, 2018
This is my second time in this space. Fred’s an excellent host. Easy check in, great communication with a nice spot downtown.
— Colin - Suite 203, 2018
This is the perfect downtown location! My husband and I stayed while taking our daughter to WWU. Overall, our stay was great and here are some things we wanted to share: We stayed in room 203. Fred and Colleen had many welcoming extras that were unexpected and much appreciated. The building is beautiful. The space is larger than it looked online. The bed and bedding are extremely comfortable. It is downtown, but the sound machine in the bedroom works well and we had no noise issues. We intend to make this our go to when in Bellingham. You won’t be disappointed by your stay at the Hamlet!
— Dena - Suite 203, 2018
Verrrrrrry clean and organized unit. Host is very responsive as well. Central to downtown Bellingham: very walkable city. Plenty of food, shops, and breweries within 10 minutes of walking.
— Kevin - Suite 203, 2018
A great place to stay, within walking distance to most points of interest, and extremely clean and quaint. The hosts’ personal touches made for a great start to our weekend...5 star hosts’ and 5 star suite...
— Tony - Suite 204, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel was way better than expected. Fred was a great host and Bellingham was very entertaining.
— Rick - Suite 203, 2018
A great getaway from Seattle. The first thing I said when I walked through the hotel and into the suite was “I want to come back.” I would have been happy staying put in the suite all the time as it is truly nice. However, being the location we had a great time wandering through Bellingham and never getting in the car. Being a college town, if you are a light sleeper as I am, the ear plugs and noise cancellation might not be enough. My husband is a heavy sleeper so he had no problems. Beautiful place and I have stayed in nice places, but this one is at the top as it is updated, tasteful and has so much thought and care put into it.
— Danielle - Suite 201, 2018
We enjoyed our stay at Hamlet Hotel. Very comfortable accommodations, lots of thoughtful touches, and walking distance to some nice restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
— Neal - Suite 201, 2018
Great location and place. Loved the vintage vinyl and record player. Thanks for the local beer and sparkling water in the fridge. The location is right above the “Soap Box” statue so a little noise is to be expected. Loudest times were between 11:00 and 1:30 am Thursday through Saturday that we stayed. Friday night was by far the loudest, though what do you expect from the entertainment district of a college town. Complimentary ear plugs were super appreciated and a white noise machine available for use was a plus. Loved this great little get away in the best part of town. Everything is within walking distance. Thank you, Fred!
— Scott - Suite 202, 2018
We stayed in 203 and it was perfect. Fred was very easy to communicate with, the place was perfect for our family, we loved the location - close to WWU and walking to everything in Bellingham. Upon arrival the place was immaculate. Super comfy beds and lots of pillows. There were snacks and even some beer for us to enjoy when we arrived. We have stayed other places in Bellingham, this is for sure the best one! We will be back for sure. Highly recommend!!
— Jennifer - Suite 203, 2018
I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It was a perfect location and better than described. The host was excellent with communication and responsiveness. Sparkling clean and really nice touches. With one of our kids just starting at Western Washington, we plan to stay here again! Thank you, Fred
— Jason - Suite 202, 2018
You will not be disappointed, very accommodating and a perfect location to explore the area.
— Stephen - Suite 203, 2018
Really great location and a super clean and cool place! The main bed was super comfy! The sofa bed would be fine for kids but might not be good for people with back problems. They really thought of every detail in the place including phone chargers and Netflix!
— Juli - Suite 201, 2018
Can’t say enough good things about our stay. Great location, great accommodations, and great host. Fred made everything easy on the spot communication. Will definitely be staying here on our future trips to Bellingham.
— Michael - Suite 204, 2018
In the heart of downtown Bellingham. Fred and his wife will exceed all your expectations and you can walk to everything you need. It won’t disappoint.
— Brent - Suite 201, 2018
Absolutely great place. Walk out the front door to everything - cafes, restaurants, farmers market. Sparkling clean, felt brand new, but warm and charming. Historic building with with beautiful interiors - hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, huge windows with lots of light and a close up view of downtown. Everything - completely expensive hotel quality. Comfortable beds and a perfect little eat-in kitchen. Fred was great - answered questions and left cookies from a local bakery and a couple cold drinks in the fridge. This was a high end AirBnb experience and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you, Fred!
— Ann - Suite 201, 2018
Great central location. Nice, simple restoration. I will definitely be back.
— Richard - Suite 204, 2018
Highly recommend for business or pleasure!
— Hillary - Suite 202, 2018
Super clean apt in great location. Everything you need to make you feel at home. Quick responses and tons of suggestions for fun local spots.
— Danielle - Suite 202, 2018
I’ve stayed in a few of Fred’s AirBnb’s multiple times. It’s always super easy and enjoyable.
— Colin - Suite 201, 2018
We had an absolutely lovely time staying at the Hamlet Hotel! The location is perfect. The hosts provide a notebook of recommended restaurants and activities (super helpful even if you have been to Bellingham before). The farmers market was steps away Saturday morning, and we took an afternoon stroll to Fairhaven. The suite was stylish yet cozy and Fred and Colleen provided some sweet extras. We will definitely look to stay at the Hamlet Hotel next time we visit Bellingham.
— Juliana - Suite 204, 2018
You cannot go wrong staying in this lovely place. If you’re looking for being in the heart of the charming downtown area, this is your place! The bed is super comfortable, with high quality sheets. There are ample towels, everything you need in the kitchen, comfortable sitting area and record player with a small but nice collection of albums. Did we mention how clean it is?So clean, it felt brand new. There were no surprises, as it’s represented very well in the site. Enjoy!
— Julie - Suite 202, 2018
The Hamlet Hotel is a really classy place located in the heart of Bellingham. We stayed with our adult children over the Thanksgiving week and chose to make use of the very ample kitchen spaces., but there are many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and diners within a half-mile. There is also a nice grocery store two blocks away. We walked to the Mount Baker Theatre to attend the symphony. We used the car very sparingly. The suites are spacious and all of the furnishings are nearly new. Fred was always available for small issues, but also offered frequent fresh bath linens and a helping hand with the trash. The Hamlet Hotel is ideal for those who might be visiting a student with the university very nearby, as well as lots of other apartments where students are likely to reside. We enjoyed our daily walks and runs on the South Bay trail, which has its north trailhead a couple blocks away. This was my second stay. I was alone the first time but had my whole family along this time. I am planning a third stay.
— Gary - Suites 201 and 203, 2018
Fantastic location - super stylish, convenient, comfortable and a great value. Walkable from all sorts of things to do. Very quick and friendly service.
— Julie - Suite 202, 2018
Very comfortable, cozy and clean place to stay. Lots of things to do and see within walking distance. And the hospitality of the hosts was top notch!
— Gary - Suite 203, 2018
Such an awesome place. Perfectly situated in downtown Bellingham. We could walk to so many places and is less than 10 mins to the Fairhaven district by car. Close to shopping and many restaurants. The information sent prior to our arrival was so helpful!! The furnishings and building were so welcoming. This is such a nice, fun place to stay in wonderful Bellingham!
— Shannon - Suite 202, 2018
Excellent location to explore Bellingham, tons of things to do within walking distance. Fred and Colleen are excellent hosts and provided us with a stellar experience. Highly recommended.
— Micah - Suite 204, 2018
We have stayed at the Hamlet multiple times now and Fred and Colleen always go above and beyond. We loved our visit and look forward to returning!
— Dorie - Suite 203, 2019
This is the second time I have stayed at the Hamlet. This is a cozy little place with added touches like snacks and drinks that make you feel like you are at home. I have chosen to stay at the Hamlet both times I have attended seminars for school. The location is key for walking around to markets and local restaurants without having to jump into the car. A very friendly and safe neighborhood to be out in the evening on foot. Fred is attentive and communicates with you prior, during and after your stay to make sure your needs are met. Thank you for sharing your wonderful place!
— Judy - Suite 204, 2019
Great place! Perfect location. We highly recommend Hamlet Hotel.
— Andrea - Suite 202, 2019
This was my 3rd stay at the Hamlet. A very clean and warm environment that makes you feel you are at home. Nice location in downtown where you can walk to just about everything. No need for a car.
— Judith - Suite 204, 2019
This was a fantastic stay. I came up to Bellingham for the weekend and rented suite 204 - it was super modern and well outfitted. There were some fresh baked goods and even a few local beers to try waiting in the kitchen, Fred was super responsive in setting it up and checked in to see if I needed anything. Great bed, great shower , all in all a super experience and I would definitely rent here again.
— Rick - Suite 204, 2019
The apartment is in a great location. There are lots of fun things to do from being outside at local parks and hikes or going to eat at some really yummy places. You would not regret making a trip to Bellingham and staying at this nice apartment.
— Susanna - Suite 201, 2019
Amazing complex and Ultra-comfortable. Suite 202 met and surpassed expectations at every level. Fred’s communication was timely and clear and we appreciated so much all the extra touches.
— Eric - Suite 202, 2019
Fantastic experience at Hamlet Hotel! Top-notch hospitality in a beautifully decorated, spacious suite with lots of amenities, such as espresso machine, filtered water, cozy linens, Netflix, toiletry items, and cookies/sweets (and local beer), in the kitchen.Great downtown location, too. Hosts couldn’t have been more gracious, even picking me up at the train station. So many extra, special and personal touches make Hamlet Hotel a truly five-star experience.
— LoJo - Suite 203, 2019
Fred and Colleen have thought of everything when preparing for guests. Our stay was perfect.
— Pam - Suite 204, 2019
This sparkling clean ‘hotel’ apartment worked out beautifully for myself plus one guest. We walked everywhere in the downtown area; farmers market, restaurants, cafes, trail into Fairhaven along the bay, and bus depot. It’s nicely furnished, like new, well stocked, and is very well designed. It’s the only hotel downtown and I’ll definitely stay again when I’m in the area.
— Dove - Suite 204, 2019
The Hamlet Hotel is located right downtown, walkable to all the best spots in downtown and old town. The room was immaculate, comfortable, well designed, and had some extra nice touches, like a welcome treat in the kitchen. There was a guest book with tons of detailed recommendations for things to do and places to eat in and around town. The only drawback is the noise - there is an active bar/nightclub very close by. Friday and Saturday nights they were pretty loud from 10pm-2am. The white noise machine provided helped quite a bit, and there are complimentary ear plugs in the bathroom. Fred made sure to warn us about the noise, so it wasn’t a surprise. We enjoyed our stay and will return next time we are in Bellingham.
— Patrick - Suite 204, 2019
Our first stay at Fred’s was so amazing that we didn’t think it could get any better. We were wrong! Ever the consummate professionals and warm hosts, Fred & Colleen really pulled out all the stops to make us feel welcome in Suite 203. Special snacks, fun treats, ice-cold local beer (with chilled glasses!), handwritten notes—-everything was extremely well thought-out. A penny candy machine in the kitchen (with pennies included!) was the icing on the amenities cake. Every room was sparkling clean, and the complimentary travel toiletries in the bathroom were a thoughtful touch. Our past stay in Suite 202 was excellent, though the bedroom window facing a public square resulted in a bit of street noise all night. Suite 203, on the other hand, has the bedroom facing a more quiet street, which also offered better privacy. Regardless of the layout, both suites are equipped with state-of-the-art white noise machines, so street noise is not an issue at all, even for sensitive sleepers like us. If your budget is flexible, Suite 203 is worth every cent. Thank you Fred for another phenomenal stay! We will be back for sure!
— Emily - Suite 203, 2019
We love staying at the Hamlet! My family travels to Bellingham regularly and over the years we have stayed in multiple hotels, but ever since our fist visit to the Hamlet it’s the only place we book. Great location, beautiful units, and thoughtful hosts make for a relaxing and fun visit every time.Dorie - Suite 203, 2019
